Start with the problem, not the product

A French drain is a great tool, but it isn't the answer to every wet yard. Some problems come from downspouts dumping water at the foundation. Others come from grading that slopes the wrong way, compacted soil or a low spot with nowhere to drain.

We walk the property, look at how water moves during and after rain and explain what we think is causing the issue.

Common drainage problems we see

  • Standing water in the yard for days after a storm
  • Water collecting near the foundation or slab
  • Downspouts discharging right next to the house
  • Water running across patios, walkways or driveways
  • Soggy beds and washed-out mulch
  • Neighboring yards draining onto your property

Choosing the right solution

The right approach depends on the property: soil, slope, where water can legally and practically discharge, and how much water is involved. It may be a French drain, a catch basin, a channel drain, downspout lines, regrading or a combination.

We don't make engineering claims or promise that one product will fix every issue. We give you clear options and a straightforward quote.

French Drains & Drainage FAQs

Will a French drain fix my standing water?

Sometimes. French drains work well for subsurface water and certain low areas, but surface runoff, downspout discharge or grading problems may need a different approach. We'll explain what we think fits your situation.

Where does the water go?

Drainage needs an outlet — typically a lower area of the property, the street or another suitable discharge point. Where water can go is a key part of planning the system.

Can you connect my downspouts underground?

Yes. Routing downspouts into underground lines is one of the most effective ways to keep roof water away from the foundation.

Will my yard be torn up?

Drainage work does involve trenching. We work neatly, restore soil afterward and talk through what to expect beforehand.
